PMRC 2022 – Team Preview

The best performance teams from the 2022 PMPL MY/SG/PH Fall: Geek Fam, SEM9, and 4Rivals will represent Malaysia at the PMRC 2022. It is exciting to see how Geek Fam, the team with a perfect streak in both Country League and Country Finals, perform against some of the best PUBG Mobile teams in the world at the PMRC 2022. SEM9 (previously known as Yoodo GANK) is making a solid comeback to the regional-level tournaments this season and looking to show the world that they are still one of the best PUBG Mobile teams since the 1st season. 4Rivals (Previously Yoodo Alliance x 4Rivals a.k.a. YA4R) is looking for redemption as they have not been performing well in the previous PMPL SEA Championship Spring 2022 and the PUBG Mobile World Invitational 2022.

The top teams from China (PEL) that qualify for the PMRC 2022 are team Still Moving Under Gunfire (SMG), Nova Esports, and LGD Gaming. Team SMG is an esports organization founded by famous Singaporean singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor JJ Lin and China Digital Culture (Group) Ltd. The team won 1st place in China’s highest level professional league for Peacekeeper Elite in Summer 2022 and qualifies for the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2022. Nova Esports, the current world champion who won the PMGC Grand Finals last year, will also compete in the PMRC 2022. This means that Paraboy, regarded as one of the best PUBG Mobile players in the world, will also be competing. LGD Gaming, the champion of the recent WEGL Weibo Cup 2022, will also enter the competition as they placed 3rd in the PEL Summer 2022.

Team Yangon Galacticos (YG) from Myanmar have been invited to participate in the PMRC 2022 due to their outstanding performance in the SEA region in 2022.

PMRC 2022 – Tournament Format

There are a total of 20 matches to compete and 5 matches per day, starting with Sanhok, then Miramar, and three on Erangel. Teams playing well on Erangel may have the advantage as the map is played the most throughout the tournament. Teams will fight for their respective region and, most importantly, their country. Although it is a competition between 2 regions (PEL and SEA), teams still compete for the champion, 2nd place, and 3rd place. Teams are not allowed to cooperate or team up with other teams in the tournament, even if they are from the same country or region.

As for the tournament format, PMRC 2022 will be using a new 10-Points system. The Top 8 teams will receive Ranking Points / Placement Points, and the first place (WWCD) will receive the highest score of 10 points. Every kill will get 1 point. Therefore, winning first place and getting more kills in the tournament is significant.

The organizers will also be holding a show match of 8 teams for a new match on Saturday, 24 September 2022. the map used for this particular show match will be none other than the new map – Map Nusa. Nusa is a new battle royale map brought into the game in the recent Patch 2.2. It is the most miniature map at only 1km x 1km in size, which explains why only eight teams will be participating in this show match.
